Hi all,

Winter is knocking at the door now...HARD!

We did not get much of an Autumn here this year as it went from 25 degrees to minus temps within one week at the end of September.

Whilst the change to minus temperatures makes for 'mannin it out' fishing trips it has its advantages. as the water cools it acts like a dinner bell for the fishy wishies , and they put on their feed bags in anticipation of long dark cold days for 7 months under a roof of 4 foot thick ice.

Jack was by far the youngest in the pool, most of the babies were at least a year old, lots of them were wailing as they went in....water was pretty old, but jack took it all in his stride....he was a bit unsure at first but was loving it by the end.

Went out for only my 2nd time ever targeting musky. Went with my buddy Lew who is an avid and experienced musky fisherman, he took me up to Thaddeus and Ord lakes about an hours drive north of Dryden.

I was kinda ambigous about the whole Musky thing......to be quite honest i did not think i had the patience to cast what seem to me to be giant lures all day with the likelyhood of catching nothing. In the end we did not even get a follow, but i was surprised how quickly the day went, and ...

I anchored up on the same spot, and sure enough first jig with minnow to hit bottom attracted a bite within seconds. I love to video my catches lol....but it does not always go to plan and I lose a lot of fish messing around trying to hold the camera....as ...

We took the kids from work to a local Provincial Park to camp for the weekend. I was on the night shift so was taking over from my shift partner at 6:30pm for the night and getting off work in the mornings at 6:30am. Of course I brought my tin boat with me , the kid I work with always wants to go out fishing(bonus).

We got out for 2 hours with the kids that evening but caught zilch. Its a deep lake with good trout fishing, but the kids wanted to catch walleye. Despite trying ...

Hi all,

went back to a a lake i'd only fished once before...and that was icefishing, but we did pretty good so had high expectations for it.

Took a good hour to get in there with the ATV, trail in was in pretty rough shape. We headed to the creek mouth we'd fished in April on the ice....no joy except a couple small pike.

We then tried to find some sheltered shoreline as the good ole weather network was ....as usual....way off the mark with its forecast and there was a really strong ...

Hi All,

Went out with my buddy Adam for a few hours on Lac Seul this afternoon.

All fish were caught on plain jigs with a minnow bait, most were on the sand bars in 5-16 FOW.

We saw a few other boats out there...and most agreed when we chatted at the landing that the day was slow. We still got a few fish over 20 inches and our limit of 17-18 inchers for the table, a load of small pike, i even got into a 19 inch bass for good measure.

i expected more as we have done really ...

Hi all,

Got all my chores done pretty late yesterday, its hard to not keep stopping and playing with my baby son...he's all giggly and playful these days. Anyway at around 7pm both wife and baby were napping and i thought i'd hook up the boat and try a little pond up the road.

Went there opening weekend with a buddy and drew a blank apart from a few small pike. Surprisingly enough for such a small lake this lake has a good walleye population, and even a few bass.

WEDNESDAY 27th MAY ON BEAVER LAKE

Hi all, got out to a little lake 10 minutes from town with Lew. This Lake holds some awesome walleye, my last fish out of there was a 28" last October.

We hit the lake around 3pm and right off the bat lew was into a little pike, then I got one, then we were catching non stop for 3 hours, we had 4 dozen minnows and left the lake with only 6 in the bucket.....and we only caught 2 walleye an hour before we left, we must have got at least 30 pike ...

Hi all,

The ice finally started to give way on the lakes round here on the 23rd of April, and I have been busy taking pics of the ice retreating as a kind of record to look back on in years to come, keeping a close eye on how the weather/wind/temps etc.. affect the ice.

I iced fished a lot later last year, even though the ice was probably safer for longer this year, just had other stuff going on....so the first opportunity i had to cast a line was not soon enough....lol...i would have ...

I have been reading your posts on here more than usual, envying all the 'soft' water you have, i know the fishing is tough there , believe me...just like the Doc the other day i have hesitated at the top of the hill at Hope's Nose weighing up the cost/benefit ratio of a long trek up and down given the hit and miss nature of actually catching anything...lol...never stopped me though.
