| I've been watching others post for a while and thought it time to not only get registered but to also contribute. I've Really enjoyed the banter and information in the forum, especially Phils kayaking info and vid's. Bought a kayak 2nd hand from Exmouth a month ago, planning to do so since last year...lazy git, LOL. First trip out was Plymouth Sound, late evening for a couple of hours, spinning with Dexter, bagged a dozen mackies and a nice Bass, yum yum yum . Wife love mackies, dogs and cats love mackies, so all happy when I got home. Got permission to go again a couple of night later, well I had to get money back in fish for the "loads a money" wadged on the kayak. Anyway, the expert that I have become has now done 4 more trips, same place, same time, same conditions, except nothing but 1 mackie on all those visits I'm not happy So the moral of the story for me is, enjoy the goods times, they don't come very often. Remember how lucky we all are to be out there just doin what we enjoy, and the fish, well we don't really expect too many anyway, do we????? |

| I've got a Milubu Mini X Phil, being a bloke of course I wanted something Bigger..... but needed to get it in the back of the wifes transporter, and this fitted well. I also wanted something really stable, I'm new to this sport. I only bum around out of the range of the lead throwers anyway, so this does the job. Do any of you bother going out when it's a bit choppy , and if so do you catch anything? I've not bothered when it's like this because it seems damn hard work keeping in one place and didn't think the fish would be around, like they are when I'm out there anyway, LOL!!!!!! |

| i dont bother if the sea is choppy as when launching its breakers you tend to be vulnerable to being tipped out and with all the gear onboard thats a crappy thing to have happen . as for staying in one place , anchor up or tie off a buoy , when the tide starts to run it can soon drag you along the beach which can be a result for a bit of drift fishing! and if the fish are at home mate then you will catch them and some of the best fishing is when the sea is very choppy _________________

| Thanks Phil, I hadn't thought about hooking onto a buoy, I'll give it a go.
Good to see that I'm not the only fair weather kayaker as well. I definately ain't into being thrown off. |

| Matter of interest as I dont know do you Yakers tie youself to the Yak in case you get thrown/fall off? _________________ 10 Bass target in 2008, 1 to be taken on a plug. July 30 5 down 5 to go!! Proud owner of Greys GRX and 6500 Chrome blanking gear!! Puttys Blog site www.puttyuk.wordpress.com |

| I don't, but I do always go out with a flotation vest on, I ain't the best of swimmers. Haven't seen anyone else tied on either, but may just be cause I'm new to it.
Others will probably know more about this than the new boy I am..... |

| i would never tie me to any boat , way too dangerous but you can get leg straps that you put over your knee area and wedge yourself on the yak , more for surfing than fishing but you can get off easy when you need to.
also if you are going to tie onto a buoy use a lanyard system as you just clip and unclip and do not need to tie any knots _________________
